About

I work with found images. I use the image, or images, as a primary figure ground and then overlay the image on backgrounds of found 2-D textures, or small abstract fields, that I create. Using Tungsten color slide film, I photograph my collage on my copy stand. After the film is processed, I project the slide onto my canvas.

Artists who have had a great influence on my work are Tom Wesselman, Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, classic Disney (Snow White, Fantasia), and animator Max Fleischer; but my greatest influence is Philip Pearlstein and his close cropped compositions.

This site is a work in progress. Enjoy the images of my art; I regularly update the site with new work. Stay tuned.

Thanks for dropping by,

John
